Twitter is fast becoming the “next big thing”. If you listen to the news for more than 2 minutes you would be left with the impression that almost every single celebrity and organisation is using twitter. And millions of other people too!

But what on earth is Twitter and how can you use it?

Twitter is a website that lets you to create a profile, just like facebook or myspace, and lets you post little messages that everyone else can see.

You can post as many of these little messages as you like, about whatever you like, but they cannot be longer than 140 characters.

You know the Status Update feature on facebook? Twitter messages and facebook updates are very very similar. Twitter is pretty much an entire website/community built around that one feature!

So why is it so popular?

Mainly because you can update your Twitter profile from almost anywhere, from almost any device, whenever you like. You can publish twitter messages by text SMS message, by email, from on the web, from your blog, from facebook and myspace, straight from any RSS feed… you get the idea.

Following and Being Followed

On the flip side of posting your own messages is the ability to follow other people and read their messages. It all revolves around interesting people posting interesting things really.

You can subscribe to anyone’s twitter updates by going to their profile and clicking on ‘Follow’. You now see their updates whenever you log in to Twitter.

It helps to imagine a rather limited Facebook, and you’ll be imagining what Twitter is all about.

Why Should You Use Twitter?

1. Because millions of other people are too.
2. To connect with people interested in the same things as you
3. To promote your music
4. To promote your website
5. To sell more stuff!
6. To get more blog readers
7. Just so you don’t miss out on the latest and greatest “next big thing”

At first glance it may look like Twitter is just for people who want to talk about themselves all day long in public, but it’s really not.

It’s about posting things that are interesting to you, and reading things that are interesting to everyone else. Just like any community!

If you are in any kind of business, you should be using Twitter to connect with potential customers. You will sell more and get good feedback.

Tweet Tweet.

Lewis

P.S. if you are using twitter to get visitors to your site/blog/products then you may want to test out a Twitter Friend Adder. You can increase your follower numbers so more people see your updates. All good fun. Try the links at the top of this page.

Without followers you are tweeting in the dark. To get anything out of Twitter you need people to be able to see your updates.

I wrote this page to help you get more Twitter followers, and to help you understand Twitter a little better

1. Post Interesting Stuff

This is by far the most important method of getting more followers. Be someone who is worth following!

If all you post is self-serving link after link after link then nobody will want to follow you. If you are interesting, and you post fun links, tweet about things you care about, AND your website links, people will follow you.

Don’t be a twitter spammer. Nobody will want anything to do with you. Be yourself, and have some fun.

2. Profile Customizations

Nothing screams “Don’t follow me!” louder than an empty bio, the default profile pic, and the default background.

Log in to your Twitter account and click Settings at the top, and work your way through all the customization options for your Twiter profile. The Account + Picture + Design pages are the most important.

3. Follow people

On Twitter the majority of people will follow you back if you follow them. Weird, yes. Useful, yes!

Because of this weird online social norm you can build your list of followers to be huge and gigantic simply by following a gigantic number of people yourself and waiting for them to follow you back.

For those people who don’t follow you back… simply wait a while and unfollow them.

While this is tricky to juggle manually, it is simple with a twitter friend adder.

4. Use a Friend Adder

Using a Twitter friend adder makes easy work of following and unfollowing twitter users. You can find just the right people to follow [people interested in certain things], and you can add them all in one go.

Then after a few days you can automatically unfollow all those people who didn’t follow you back [or everybody altogether].

You can use an automated twitter adder to build up a list of thousands of people with very little effort on your part, which makes this kind of software increasingly popular.

You can see my twitter friend adder reviews by clicking the Home link at the top of this page.

5. Trending Topics

On Twitter the popular topics that people are talking about RIGHT NOW are called ‘trending topics’. They are shown in the sidebar of your profile when you are logged in, and under the search box at search.twitter.com. Because of the prominance in the sidebar, lots of people click the links to read the latest tweets. And if you are there, on topic and interesting, you will probably get some followers.

Don’t be obvious though, and don’t just post the #tag in your unrelated message. Be real, authentic, and INTERESTING.

6. Have conversations with people

On Twitter you can send public messages aimed at specific people by using the @reply function. For example, one of my twitter usernames is www.twitter.com/mlmarticlezone, so if you wanted to send me a public message you would include @mlmarticlezone in one of your twitter updates.

If I reply to you, using @your-username, my followers will see that I have sent you a message. Some will click your username and check out your profile. And followers will follow

…and in Conclusion:

There are many more ways to increase your follower numbers than I have outlined here, but these are some of the quickest and easiest. Not to mention most effective!

Don’t under estimate the effect of customizing your profile, don’t overlook the power of an automatic twitter friend adder, and don’t forget to be interesting.

May the Twitter masses be yours.

Lewis

Before you embark on a friend adding extravaganza… here are 3 important things you must know first!

1. Not All Friend Adders Are Created Equal

While is is true that you have incredible choice when it comes to buying a friend adder for twitter [with the software available mostly all very well made] it is not true that they are all the same.

So you should make a wise decision.

On TwitterAdders.com homepage you can see my reviews for the best available friend adders. What you choose however should be the adder best suited to your particular needs.

I prefer Tweet Adder and have the 5 account license, but you may have 20 accounts and so go for Hummingbird to save money. Don’t just buy the first twitter friend adder you come across. Do your research.

2. Twitter Limits Your Daily Follower Amount

You can’t use your friend adder to follow one million people by tomorrow. Twitter won’t let you. They have put some limits in place, but none as strict as myspace or facebook.

You can:

Add up to 2000 new people in a day

You can’t:

Add more than 2000 until you have about that many followers

So with that in mind, your strategy is important…

3. Understanding Your Strategy

To work within the Twitter limits, here is what you should do:

1. Add the targeted people you want to follow you
2. Wait until all those who are going to follow you back have done so
3. Unfollow all those who haven’t followed you back
4. Follow new targeted people
5. Repeat the process

Any of the Twitter Friend Adders reviewed on this site can do all that for you automatically, so you just press Go and let them carry on.

Letting your Twitter profile build in this way will ensure you build up a large audience for your tweets.

And that’s what we all want isn’t it! The largest audience in the whole wide world

Lewis

1. More people than you think use twitter software already

If you imagine only a few lone software-users automating their twitter accounts then you are underestimating the situation thousands and thousands.

Twitter has over 10,000,000 users. TEN MILLION. Thousands of those are people who don’t have the time or inclination to sit at their computer all day adding new people and unfollowing people who don#t follow them back.

Really, who has time for all that?

For anyone with even a small amount of decent life to lead, anything above 10 minutes a day just gets dull.

Twitter software is needed if you have any hope of getting more Twitter followers.

2. 95% of people are using Twitter to promote a website or blog

That number is a guess of my own. I haven’t seen any official stats anywhere, but I think it’s probably pretty accurate. Pick any 100 accounts at random. Look in every Bio space, top of the sidebar. Do they have a link? I would bet 95 out of any 100 would.

So don’t feel bad about plugging your own site. Everyone is aware of what you want, and you are aware of what everyone else wants. You’re not stupid. These followers of yours are bloggers, and website owners, and writers, and product owners.

You want them to click on your links, they want you to click on theirs.

So join in and be both interesting and interested.

3. Lots of people will only follow you so you follow them back

This is a commonly known twitter strategy. Follow people, they will likely follow you back. Then occassionally go in and unfollow those who haven’t followed you back.

So get to it.

And don’t feel bad if you DON’T follow someone back. If they don’t interest you, don’t feel pressure. Just like in real life you are not expected to be interested in everyone.

4. It is completely ethical to outsource boring tasks to a twitter friend adder

If you were to sit at your computer all day endlessly following interesting people on twitter, click click click with your mouse, that would be just fine. You are perfectly allowed to do that. Nothing unethical about that.

If you were to outsource the task to someone in a poorer country, paying them a couple of bucks per hour to do it for you, that would be perfectly fine too.

But to save both time and money, you are perfectly allowed to get some software to do the clicking for you. It can run day and night, doesn’t ask for breaks, doesn’t need to be paid an hourly wage, and will never complain.

Ahhh… what a dream.

To get more twitter followers you need to stop feeling bad about utilizing every option at your disposal!

5. A custom background helps more than you think

When potential followers look at your profile for the first time, and say to themselves “should I follow this person or not?” one of the things that can have the biggest impact is a custom background.

There are plenty of websites that will help you build a custom twitter background, and it will only take you a few minutes.

You must know from looking at other people’s profiles how much better a customised profile looks than a defauly blue one looks.

It just makes sense.

6. Some people buy twitter accounts with lots of followers

This could mean any of 2 things to you.

It could mean “Wow! Twitter followers are more valuable than I thought!”

Or could mean “Wow! I can do that!”

You can build up a twitter account with a few thousand followers, and go to some auction site and list the account for sale. Myspace accounts with lots of friends sell every day, although for less now than ever before because myspace is dying a very quiet death.

Twitter however is all the rage right now. Why not experiment with selling a few twitter accounts?

You can build up the follower numbers using a Twitter Friend Adder.

7. There is a limit to the number of people you can follow!

Yep. It’s true. You can’t just go out tomorrow and follow a full 3 million people just so they will all follow you back.

It works like this:

At first you are limited to following 2000 people
Until at least that many have followed you back
When they have, your limit is raised
And raised
And raised
Basically, they are just watching your ratio.

You don’t want to go out and follow thousands of people with none of them following you back. That’s ridiculous and not very smart.

The way to get around this is by following people, waiting for them to follow you, then unfollowing those who haven’t followed you. Software can handle this whole task for you, so you don’t really need to worry about the twitter limit much. Just be aware of it so you don’t go overboard.

8. People LOVE inspirational quotes

If you want someone to ReTweet you try posting some inspirational quotes. Would you believe that’s one of the most popular RT subjects? [observed from my own research]

How about: “Leadership is the capacity to translate vision into reality” – Warren Bennis

Who doesn’t like reading that?!

9. Everybody hates Direct Messages

I haven’t done any surveys about this, but I believe it’s true. A Direct Message on Twitter is a painful thing indeed. Too easy to spam people, to many to read, less efficient than email or @replies, and you can’t reply from your email inbox.

So automate your welcome message if you feel the need, but don’t get carried away with Direct Messages because they are hated.

Hated!

So there you have it. 9 unwritten rules and useful thoughts.

Use them wisely!

Lewis

P.S. for a free trial of this twitter adder software I keep going on about click here.

So what is a Mass Twitter Friend Adder?

It is simply a piece of software that you install onto your computer.

A mass friend adder will allow you to:

automatically follow other Twitter users
automatically unfollow them
send mass messages
etc etc!

If you are bored of clicking Follow again and again and again then some
Twitter adder software will save you hours.

Real Life Case Study:

I used to follow people on Twitter all by hand. Click click click. Click click click. It all gets very painful after a very short time. Now instead I use Twitter Adder, the friend adder software. I just fire it up, type in a keyword or some other criteria, tell it how many people to follow, and it will work it’s magic all on it’s own.

I can then minimize it, walk away, eat some ice cream, whatever. It will carry on like a faithful servant, not resting until my work is complete.

How tremendously exciting!

A mass Twitter friend adder allows you to circumvent the old ways of managing your empire, the slow manual ways. It’s like the difference between being stuck in a traffic jam… and whizzing around in a flying car!

The Twitter Rules:

Twitter HQ do have rules on the number of people you can follow each day, but the limits are very high, so you’re good to go. Unless you plan to use the software unethically this limit won’t be a problem for you worry about.

Most Twitter adders come with default daily limits built in. You can alter these limits of course, but they are there initially for safety. As you become more confident and knowledgable about the Twitter follow limits and etiquette you may want to increase the limits yourself.

Twitter is one of the fastest growing websites of all time. It has gone from zero users to tens of millions in an incredibly short time. And as you must already know, where there are millions of people there is money to be made!

Right now the guys who own and run Twitter don’t make a penny from it. They haven’t worked out yet how to make money with Twitter, but for you as a user it’s an entirely different challenge. You’re not looking to monetize a database of users with the service, you’re looking to simply reach a particular audience.

Where the money can come from:

There are literally hundreds of ways to make money with Twitter. Hundreds, and thousands. What will stop you is not a shortage of ideas, it’s your dedication to doing any of them. Just like with all things; nothing worth doing ever came easy.

Each of the ideas below can be implemented by building up the right Twitter audience. We’ll explore that a bit more below.

Here are some money making ideas you can apply to Twitter right now:

1. Promote your business. This one is fairly obvious. With occasional links in tweets, the link in your bio, and by feeding your latest blog posts onto your Twitter profile.

2. Recommend affiliate products. If you have a large following of dog lovers then it’s pretty easy to recommend a great dog leash or guidebook or chew toy. You can recommend clickbank products, which will pay you very well.

3. Sign up with Magpie. Magpie is a service where businesses can advertise on your Twitter profile for your followers to see. You get paid based on how many followers you have, among other things. It’s used by a lot of people and is one of the most trusted sites of its kind.

4. Promote your blog, running adsense and other ads. Twitter is an excellent way to drive quality visitors to your blog or website. Twitter users love blogs, and promoting your latest posts is perfectly acceptable.

5. Make deals with website/service owners to promote their site. It’s a great way to get a discount in a product or get free stuff by saying how you will Terry about it. I recommended a product I bought the other day to a buddy of mine, she tweeted the link, I showed the product owner and he gave me a whole extra bonus for free!

6. Build a mailing list. If you offer some kind of free bonus or incentive to your followers to sign up to your mailing list you can grow your list very fast, with targetted people. You can then email these subscriber whenever you have something good to say, and earn a LOT in the process.

These are probably the most obvious methods. There are many many more ways to tailor it specifically for your product or service. Anything you can do with an audience you can do on twitter.

Things You Need:

To make money on twitter you need to be able to tick a few things off from the following list.

You need:

A Twitter account (obviously)
Something to sell (being an affiliate is just fine)
A blog (a free one will work)

Optional:

Multiple Twitter accounts, to target smaller groups of people

Automatic friend adding software (reviewed at twitteradders.com)

The automatic friend adding software isn’t free but is totally worth it.

It happens to everyone when Twitter cleans up their system.
The most likely reason is simple. Spammers. With Twitter being as popular as it is they attract many idiotic spammers, who just fill the whole place with crappy posts and fake @replies and link after link after link.

Twitter scans their system from time to time and weeds them out. They all get deleted, and your follower numbers go down. Simple as that.

Goodbye spammers

A less likely reason for a twitter follower drop is because you said something insensitive or offensive.

But I’m sure if you did you would most likely be aware of it and wouldn’t need to search to find out why your followers have dropped!

Getting more followers:

Wouldn’t it be super nice to have your follower numbers grow so much each day that you never noticed even if Twitter did delete a bunch of spammers?

You can get hundreds of legitimate followers on Twitter by using an Adder to automate the endless clicking usually involved.

The software will let you grow your Twitter follower list to well over 1000, and more if you keep on using it.

Twitter is the busy marketer’s dream. You log on once or twice a day, post a couple of messages, reply to some people, and you’re done. It’s like a super simple version of facebook or myspace, and is about the easiest Social Network you could join.

But it’s not always that simple…

Do you find yourself wasting hours and hours on Twitter, trying to get a decent number of followers?I used to! In the end I really started to hate Twitter. The concept was so simple but I couldn’t make it live up to the promise.

Then, of course, I started automating things.

Extending Twitter:

There are dozens more reasons to automate your Twitter profile than simply to save time.

For me, these were the most important:

1. Save time, of course
2. Get more TARGETED followers
3. Automate boring tasks

You can get more targeted Twitter friends by following the ideal people who you want following you. The trouble is this is usually the most time consuming thing.

TO MAKE MONEY USING TWITTER YOU NEED TARGETED FOLLOWERS

You have several options when it comes to automating your Twitter account:

SocialOomph: SocialOomph.com is a web-based tool that allows you to start automating messages and Direct Messages. It is an excellent set of tools, both free and paid, and I would recommend using it to set up future tweets and to automatically follow back everyone who follows you. You can also set up a Direct Message to be automatically sent to all your new followers.

Outsourcing: If you’re rolling in the mega bucks you can afford to hire someone to sit and manage your Social Marketing all day long. This would probably be my choice if I had loads of money to spend, but I’m not one to waste money if automatic robot tools can do the same job, if not better! But still, outsourcing is always an option.

Twollow: Twollow.com is another web-based tool, and it will automatically follow people based on your Keyword Watch List. You specify what keywords you want your ideal followers to be talking about, and when they do Twollow will follow them for you. This will help you build a list of targeted followers, as many will follow you back. The trouble with this solution is that it will cost you $15 – $35 per month in twollow subscription fees.

Twitter Friend Adder:

By far the most popular and versatile solution is to use a Twitter Friend Adder.

This is a piece of software you install onto your computer. It will cost you about $50 for a one-time fee, with no monthly payments like twollow above.

With a Twitter friend adder you can:-

* Add people based on what keywords they mention
* Add people based on their location
* Follow all followers of another user
* Follow everyone followed by another user
* Unfollow everyone who doesn’t follow you back
* plus a few other options

This gives you a massive amount of freedom to follow precisely the people you want to follow, unfollow every one of them who doesn’t follow you back, and build a Twitter following to beat every one of your competitors.

Manual Labor: If you don’t fancy any of this Twitter adder software… you can always just go back to the old way. Click click click, follow follow follow. This is slow, but some people find it relaxing. Crazy people with more time than sense!

If you have any questions about any Twitter friend adder software just let me know in the comments.

Twitter is a powerful beast, but a time consuming one.

Twitter is all about brevity. Keep it short and simple… because you have no other choice! The trouble is there are 25 million other people on the site doing just the same as you.

The key to escaping the Twitter Trap is to automate your Twitter account.

Some Easy Ways To Automate:

.

.

1. Automate Adding Followers

The most popular form of account automation on Twitter is to automate adding followers. Some software (robot) goes off and follows people for you, and you wait for them to follow you back.

It’s a very simple concept. You can automatically follow Twitter users by:

* searching by keyword
* searching by location
* searching by followers
* searching by following
* and a few other options

This means you can follow people in just about any niche, and you don’t have to do anything except press GO!

2. Automate Unfollowing

If you are following people with a friend adder then you’ll also need to unfollow people from time to time. The same TwitterAdder software will help you cull your Following list.

Let’s say you follow 100 new people on Day 1, and you set the software to unfollow everyone who doesn’t follow you back, but only after 7 days. This gives pepple a long enough chance to reciprocate. On Day 7 perhaps 40 of them haven’t followed you back. That’s ok. Just press Go and they will be removed.

If you are using twitter to market then you don’t need to be following anyone who isn’t following you. This keeps your Following-to-Follower ratio nice and low, so you don’t get flagged as a spammer.

3. Automate posts

There are 3 main ways to automate your Twitter posts.

1. Schedule them for future posting
2. Trigger posts from other sites
3. Hire someone else to run your Twitter profile.

I’m going to ignore number 3 because it is rare and expensive. I’ll focus on 2 and 3.

Scheduling:

You can schedule as many posts for the future as you wish with a number of services. My favourite are SocialOomph and FutureTweet. With FutureTweet you get to schedule recurring tweets, which is something you have to pay for with SocialOomph. Other than that socialoomph is superior in a lot of ways.

You can schedule Xmas messages, your favorite quotes, your website links, etc.

Triggering Twitter Updates:

When you do something on another site, like publish an article or upload a photo, you can often have it automatically send a post to your Twitter account.

Here are some examples-

When you publish a new Squidoo lens you can automatically Tweet the link.

You can automatically post a link to every new article you publish at EzineArticles.

Every newsletter you send out via Aweber can be automatically Tweeted too!

The list is literally huge. Thousands of websites are perfectly happy to help you promote your new stuff on Twitter, so you can keep your Twitter account up to date just by linking them together and carrying on just like before.

Special Mention: RSS to Twitter

If you have a blog, or a modern website, or a photo uploading account, or any kind of profile on a Social Networking site, you will already have many RSS feeds to your name. An RSS feed is just a way for content you post somewhere to make it’s way automatically somewhere else.

With the website TwitterFeed.com you can link any RSS feed to your Twitter account. This is truly “working smart” because work you have done somewhere else, like writing a blog post, automatically gets promoted to your twitter followers without you having to do a thing!

Setting up all your RSS feeds in TwitterFeed won’t take you very long, and you won’t ever have to think of them again.

Blogging and twittering go well together. A huge percentage of Twitter users are blogging, and a huge percentage of bloggers are on Twitter.

There are dozens of ways to post automatic Twitter updates, and automate Twitter friend adding, and here I’ll talk about automatically updating Twitter with your latest blog posts.

THE OUTLINE

When you publish a blog post and want to promote the new post on Twitter, what do you do? Log in to twitter and write out the title and link? What if you forget? Or want to work less but achieve more? Simple. Make the update automatic.

THE SET UP

1. Join TwitterFeed.com.
2. Authenticate your Twitter account info on the Create Feed page.
3. Enter your blog RSS feed in
4. Select Title And Link Only
5. Save
6. Job done!

Now every time you publish a new post to your blog it will show up on your Twitter profile, all 100% automatic!

THE OTHER METHOD

If you have a self-hosted wordpress blog you can install the Twitter Tools plugin and set up much the same thing inside your blog admin. The plugin will auto post your blog to Twitter, with no need for any 3rd party website.

MY PREFERED METHOD

I prefer TwitterFeed though because authenticating your Twitter username and password means you don’t have to give it away to any site or plugin other than Twitter.com itself, and because in the one admin interface you can enter in dozens of feeds for dozens of Twitter accounts.

GETTING MORE TWITTER FRIENDS

If you want your blog posts to reach more people through Twitter you will need to get a larger list of Twitter followers.

The automated way is to use a Twitter Friend Adder. You can download a free demo version (by clicking here) that is good for a few hundred new friends before the demo runs out.

It’s definitely worth testing!

Lewis

I know how this feels. In fact, let me tell you my story…

I was on Twitter for months and months, with several different accounts, and I couldn’t make a single penny. I was faithfully tweeting, adding friends, and I was still seeing NO RESULTS.

But I have a secret for you, and it’s this:

I realized most people are making 3 simple mistakes when it comes to Twitter Marketing!

I changed my ways that very day, and started seeing results immediately! I was previously wasting hours and hours of time, Twitter was sucking hours and hours of my week, for nothing. Then one day it all changed.

It was like walking out into the sun after being trapped in a fridge for months…

The 3 simple secrets are:

1. Your Twitter Profile Can Run Itself - you can automate friend adding, automate direct messages, and schedule tweets for the future. If you are stuck in manual mode, you need to go automatic!

2. You Need To Automate And Target Followers - If you’re not targeting followers you are completely wasting your time. Simple as that!

3. You Need To Unfollow Everyone Who Ditches You - Twitter keeps an eye on how many people you’re following and how many are following you. You want many more people to follow you than you are following. This means automatically unfollowing everyone who ditches you! Good bye Twitter Wasters!

If you apply these 3 simple secrets your Twitter Marketing Effectiveness will shoot through the roof. Literally. Bang bang, holes in the roof

How Do You Automate Twitter Friend Adding?

You can download some Twitter software for free for a trial run.

You’ll see your Twitter Life shrink down to mere minutes instead of hours, you’ll get more sales and visitors, and certainly more followers!

You can install the software from here: http://www.twitteradders.com/go/tweetadder.php

I use it every day, and I wouldn’t EVER EVER EVER go back to adding Twitter friend manually. Manual work sucks.

Go Automate!

For ages I was afraid to unfollow people. Were you?

At first I thought they would get an email telling them I had dumped them.

Then I thought they would notice using one of the many tools that exist for monitoring these things.

Now I realise nobody cares if you unfollow them! Especially if they weren’t even following you in the first place.

So don’t fret it!

WHY YOU WOULD WANT TO AUTOMATICALLY UNFOLLOW

For those of you who don’t know, unfollowing people is a key part of any Twitter Marketing Strategy.

To build up a massive list of followers, you need to follow people first. It’s the pro-active approach.

You get followers by following people, hoping they’ll follow you back. And if they don’t follow you back… you automatically unfollow them! No dead weights needed thank you very much.

TWITTER RULES ON FOLLOWING AND UNFOLLOWING

Twitter HQ monitors how many people you follow and unfollow, to make sure you’re not a spammer. If you followed 2000 people today, and unfollowed them all tomorrow, you would most likely be marked as a spammer.

The key is to build it slowly.

If Twitter sees you following 2000 people when you only have, say, 50 followers… then you’re doing something very wrong.

If Twitter HQ sees you following 2000 people they want to know that other people have a similar interest in you. This is why you should wait for people to start following you back, then after a while unfollow those who negatively affect your ratio. The TweetAdder software can handle this for you.

HOW TO AUTOMATICALLY UNFOLLOW ON TWITTER

There are a few tools you can use to automatically unfollow people on Twitter.

My TWO favorites are:

1. TweetAdder - This is a tool that sits on your desktop and follows and unfollows people. You tell it you want certain kinds of twitterers, and it follows them for you. Then when whatever % of those people don’t follow you back after a week or so, it unfollows them for you.

It knows how to handle your ratio for you, so you don’t pop up on the radar at Twitter HQ.

I love this tool and I use it every day to both add to and clean up by twitter list.

I recommend it because it allows me to automate the endless clicking and monitoring I used to do with Twitter.

2. SocialOomph - This is a free web based tool that will automatically unfollow anyone who unfollows you, and send Direct Messages automatically among some other things.

This is good because people an unfollow you at any point down the line, and this monitors for that. If anyone kisses you goodbye, you don’t get them cluttering up your ratio!

If you are trying to build up a presence on Twitter these are the 2 tools you NEED to get your hands on.

SIMPLE FACT:

You’re in this Twitter game to win, not to find life companions. If someone isn’t following you, you don’t need to be following them. It’s nothing about being polite, nothing about being too afraid to insult people by automatically unfollowing them.

If they are not following you back within 7-10 days, dump them. And good riddance!

Hmm.. maybe not good riddance. But you certainly don’t need to affect your ratio by following the wrong people!

Lewis

P.S. You can read my review of the TweetAdder software here.

The great thing about Twitter is also the worst thing:

So many people spend so much time using Twitter, which is good for you as there are thousands of ideal customers…

…and bad for because it’s easy to waste time!

When you should be getting on with actual work, Twitter can become a ridiculous “time thief”. It would be so easy to spend the rest of your life twittering and never accomplish anything…

Twitter Adder Software takes partial control of your account, and automates the boring stuff, like:

+ Following ideal customers
+ Unfollowing people
+ Sending direct messages

When you download the automatic Twitter Software and install it onto your computer, you use your account username and password to log in.

+ You then tell it what your ideal customers talk about, with keywords.
+ You tell it how many of them to follow every day.
+ And to unfollow everyone who doesn’t follow you back!
+ Press GO… and you’re done.

Now all you need to do each day is open the software, and it will do it’s job like a faithful robot servant!

And you get more Twitter Followers

Your Twitter list will grow, your tweets will reach more people, and your links will get more clicks, and your products will get more sales.

It’s one of the easiest ways to grow a list of targeted people, online anywhere.

I use Twitter Adder Software every day to manage multiple Twitter accounts, and it’s one of the best tools I use for online social marketing.

It’s like bringing a bazooka to a knife fight. Your competitors don’t have a chance.

You can click here to see the Twitter Friend Adder I use.

* Perhaps you want to get a large list of followers instantly?

* Or just do other things, but maybe use Twitter one day?

FACT #1:

If you’re looking to buy a Twitter account, you’ve obviously never seen TweetAdder – Check out the free demo.

I use TweetAdder for my niche accounts on Twitter, and it works perfectly. I’ve been using it for a while now.

Here’s how it works. You install it onto your computer, fire it up, and tell it how many people you want to follow, and in what niche. Then about half of the people you follow will follow you back, and TweetAdder can unfollow everyone else. It’s very clever.

FACT #2:

When you buy a Twitter account, it has been built using TweetAdder. 90% guaranteed. They do exactly what I just described, and you pay them the big bucks for the account.

Don’t do it!

Get the software for yourself and build your own accounts. You don’t know how aggressively they built the account for you, so it could be deleted soon, you just don’t know.

Do it your own way, and have the software so you can repeat the process for multiple accounts.

Tweet Tweet!

You can use it to get more followers on Twitter. It’s a good twitter tool.

However, there are people who say it’s useless. Are they right?

The short answer is: “It depends on what you use Twitter for?”

If you use Twitter to get more blog readers, or website visitors, or want to make more sales, then TweetAdder is an essential tool.

But if you’re on Twitter just for fun, or to connect with friends, or to follow your favorite celebrities, then TweetAdder is absolutely useless to you.

Look at what you would do with a few thousand new friends, and see if tweetadder is the right tool for you or just a useless extra.

NOTE: you can try a free demo to test it from here

TweetAdder is the program I use myself every day. I find it simple and very easy to use, but the ‘unlimited accounts’ license is quite pricey. This is perfect for anyone with up to 5 twitter accounts.

It’s not flashy, but then I suppose it doesn’t need to be, and it doesn’t need to load each page like Hummingbird. This is my Twitter adder of choice.

Your Accounts:

TweetAdder has a sliding price structure, which means you only pay for what you will be using. If you just have 1 twitter account then you only pay $55, but if you have 10 it’s $110. For unlimited profiles the price goes up to $188. This is OK for people with few accounts, but if you want the unlimited it can get rather expensive.

Following People:

I find TweetAdder to be the easiest twitter adder so far, when it comes to following people.

On the Who To Follow page where you find people to add you get the following options:

This gives you a huge amount of freedom to choose /exactly/ who you want to add. People talking about a certain thing, people who follow a certain user, the people a certain user follows, users in a certain city, etc etc.

Following people with Tweet Adder is safe for your account too because you can set a time delay between each follow. So if you have 500 people set to follow it won’t just add them all as quickly as possible. It will make it look natural, and you can set the time between each request from anything between 1 second and however long you like. It will randomise it all, and everything will look manual and natural. You can then minimize the program, knowing it will just be getting on with the job exactly as you told it to.

It’s so fun getting on with other work knowing you have a little automated robot doing work for you

Unfollowing People:

Unfollowing people is largely the same as following people. You can set the time delay between each unfollow, and specify what someone has to have done in order to be unfollowed. If after how-ever-many-days they haven’t followed you back you can unfollow them. Or maybe if you just want to unfollow people at random to get your ratio down. It’s not as flexible as I would like it to be, but it is quick and works extremely well.

Like pretty much all the twitter adders you can set up a Safelist of users who won’t be unfollowed no matter what. These would be the people who you really really really do want to follow.

The Good:

1. It feels like at the heart of TweetAdder is your account safety. You don’t want to go over the twitter limits, you don’t want to get carried away, and you don’t want your account deleted. So TweetAdder takes care of things. It safeguards your account by watching the Twitter-Imposed daily limits, and allows you to also set a following-to-follower ratio of your choice, and max daily follows/unfollows of your choice. When I first opened it I thought “oh man, I don’t know what ratios and limits to set!”, but you get the hang of it in about 3 minutes. It’s easy, you’ll see.

2. I like that TweetAdder doesn’t have to load every single page when it follows people, like Hummingbird does, so I can carry on browsing the web like normal and not use up more of my internet connection than I need to.

3. The stats panel on the left hand side of the software gives you a complete picture of what’s going on with your twitter account. You can see how many people have followed you back as a result of your efforts today, and even see the % conversion rate.

The Bad:

I would love to see more power to drill down and set more specifics for who to follow and unfollow.

For example, I would love it if I could combine some of the options when finding people to follow, like users who are following a certain person who have ALSO tweeted a certain keyword, or who ALSO live in a certain area. This would be niche marketing at its greatest!

I would also love the ability to not follow anyone who has the default twitter bio photo, as they tend to be fairly useless users.

Conclusion:

The features are what you have come to expect from any paid twitter adder, and it is the adder that I find myself using on a daily basis instead of all the others, /

I’m actually very pleased with TweetAdder, the features are what you have come to expect from any paid twitter adder, and it is the adder that I find myself using on a daily basis instead of all the others. I like how quick it is, and I like the stats bar on the left side of it. At a glance I can see the status of my accounts and those I’m following, my conversion %, etc.

My Recommendation:

If I was only going to buy 1 Twitter Adder I would buy this.

TweetAdder, HummingBird, etc, all run on your computer. Guess what happens if you unplug for a week? Nothing. They can’t run.

This is one of the top reasons to get SocialSnipe. It can run 24/7, you can log in to it from any computer in the world, from your phone, anywhere.

But! The reason it doesn’t make the #1 Spot? It costs $30 per month.

So you’ve got to think about what’s important to you in a Twitter Friend Adder.

THE REST OF THIS REVIEW – COMING TOMORROW

HummingBird is hailed as a ‘Twitter Pro Tool’, and largely lives up to that title, although there are a couple of drawbacks you should know about.

In summary, it offers lots of great features which most twitter users will be happy with, but when comparing it to some of the other adders it leaves me wanting more.

Your Accounts:

HummingBird lets you add multiple Twitter accounts to automate, instead of just 1 or 2, which is always nice.

Switching between your different accounts takes just a single click, so managing all your accounts is foolproof.

Following People:

There are 3 main ways to find people to follow using Hummingbird -

1. Automatically follow everyone another user is following
2. Automatically follow everyone who is following another user
3. Automatically follow everyone who meets your search criteria.

The most interesting is definitely 3. You can choose their location, keywords in their tweets, language, hashtag, the date, and even their positive attitude. You can then follow everyone your search results find, and even leave it running overnight to follow all the new people who meet your criteria. Very clever.

Unfollowing People:

Unfollowing people who have not followed you back is super-easy too. Using Hummingbird to add new followers is great, but what you really want is for those people to follow you back. When they don’t follow you back, after a couple of days perhaps, Hummingbird can unfollow them. So you’re not following people you don’t need to be following. Unfortunately you are not able to set a specific time delay after following someone to determine when you unfollow them. Other adders have this feature and it’s a shame not to see it with a premium program like Hummingbird.

Like all good Twitter Adders this feature comes with a VIP option, where you can add certain people to a protected list, and they will never be unfollowed.

The Bad:

Although Hummingbird is a very capable application I really don’t care much for the full browser window, watching it click click click away doing my twitter-dirty-work. Even though you can minimize it and get on with other things, it just all felt a bit weird. For one thing you are forced to load each and every page, and all usernames and profile pictures, every time Hummingbird moves on to a new page to follow or unfollow more people. I am forced to compare this browser-window method to the silent and hidden and efficient workings of TweetAdder, and TweetAdder has my vote.

This is a difficult one, but ultimately Hummingbird doesn’t get the highest rating simply because it offers the same [or even less] features than some of the other adders and yet is still somewhat expensive.

Comparing Features some of the other adders beat Hummingbird. ‘Twitter Bird Feeder for example can skip following all people who still haven’t changed their display picture. TweetAdder keeps an eye on your follower-following ratio and let’s you know when you’re heading too high.

Conclusion:

I was left wanting more from Hummingbird, but if you are looking for a Twitter Adder that will rock the basics brilliantly, you can’t really go far wrong.

Please Note: This video quotes the old higher price. Hummingbird is $97 not $195.
