SocialOomph is a social media productivity suite. It’s a collection of tools for Twitter, Facebook, GoogleBuzz, StatusNet and blogging that aim to make your social marketing life easier.
FREE or PAID? What’s the difference?
The difference is actually huge. A paid account is incredibly powerful, and could revolutionise your social marketing if used to its full potential.
With a FREE account you are able to manage unlimited Twitter accounts, and use some of the more basic tools.
With a PAID account you’re able to automate Facebook updates, schedule and auto-post to all your blogs, conduct deeper twitter-follower-research to find new people, spinnable-tweets (MAJOR FEATURE!), and tons more.
With a paid account you really could sit down at your computer to “work” on your online business and simply log in to SocialOomph and feed content to your blogs and social profiles. You can set yourself up as a marketing machine, with as many separate niches as you wish.
As a “productivity suite” SocialOomph truly lives up to its name.
BEST FREE FEATURES
Free accounts are limited to just basic Twitter automation, but the paid accounts have a whole host of other options. I’ll talk about some of my favorites features here, along with the basic free ones.
* Auto Follow New Followers (free)
When someone follows you on Twitter, SocialOomph will follow them back for you automatically. This means you won’t miss anybody, and will “return the favor” to everyone who follows you. Obviously don’t use this if you want to keep your ‘Following’ number lower than your ‘Followers’ number. Personally I don’t use this. If someone wants to follow me they are welcome to; I don’t need to follow them back to prove anything. But lots of people use this, so it’s an important feature for SocialOomph to have – PLUS it’s all done whether you log in or not… completely automatically any time of the day.
* Auto Direct Message (free)
Automation is a beautiful thing. When you get a new follower, and SocialOomph automatically follows them back for you, you can also send an automated Direct Message! They follow you –> you follow them back –> you send them a DM saying hi… all automatically!
Any tool that handles the boring necessary tasks is a tool worth having.
* Schedule Tweets (free)
This is a beauty. It’s a feature available on lots of other websites and even iPhone apps with slicker interfaces, but it’s still useful here. You can set tweets to post in the future. It’s great for things like “Merry Xmas!” etc, but also great for scheduling retweets of links and older blog posts. Randomly promote your website every day/week/month/year by setting up scheduled tweets for a few hours… then stop worrying about keeping Twitter updated!
* Click Tracking (free)
To know how well your marketing is going, and which tweets and styles get better results, you need to track some stats. SocialOomph click tracking takes care of that, and is included in the free membership.
BEST PAID FEATURES
* Facebook Automation (paid)
This is the first important Paid feature. While you can schedule Facebook status updates by feeding your Twitter profile into your FB account, this feature allows you to go direct to Facebook. In just the same way you’d schedule twitter posts days/weeks/months in advance, you can now do the same with Facebook. Being more productive when you’re doing other things is always nice.
* Blogging Automation (paid)
As you’d expect. This Paid feature is a powerful one, but not one I can get myself to use often! For one thing, I just wish I blogged more than I do. For the other thing, I prefer the extra controls and settings inside the blog admin areas themselves. Still, this is a useful feature to have if you are in control of dozens of blogs. It pulls everything together into the 1 account too, which is very handy indeed. You also only ever need to remember the 1 password to get into Socialoomph, then you can publish to all your blogs. Have a go and see if you like it! You’ll either love it or hate it.
* Spinnable-Tweets (paid)
Twitter no longer allows you to schedule recurring tweets, but you can still post recurring “spun” tweets! You write a few default updates, and provide a few alternative text snippets, and your tweets will be mixed and matched to create unique messages posted at random times. You set the parameters for each tweet you want to “spin” and it will rewrite sections of each message. Handy, but not something I use regularly. If you routinely spin your articles (for your article marketing) then this feature will be great for you.
