Twitter is the busy marketer’s dream. You log on once or twice a day, post a couple of messages, reply to some people, and you’re done. It’s like a super simple version of facebook or myspace, and is about the easiest Social Network you could join.

But it’s not always that simple…

It is an excellent set of tools, both free and paid, and I would recommend using it to set up future tweets and to automatically follow back everyone who follows you. You can also set up a Direct Message to be automatically sent to all your new followers.

Outsourcing: If you’re rolling in the mega bucks you can afford to hire someone to sit and manage your Social Marketing all day long. This would probably be my choice if I had loads of money to spend, but I’m not one to waste money if automatic robot tools can do the same job, if not better! But still, outsourcing is always an option.

Twollow: Twollow.com is another web-based tool, and it will automatically follow people based on your Keyword Watch List. You specify what keywords you want your ideal followers to be talking about, and when they do Twollow will follow them for you. This will help you build a list of targeted followers, as many will follow you back. The trouble with this solution is that it will cost you $15 – $35 per month in twollow subscription fees.

Twitter Friend Adder:

By far the most popular and versatile solution is to use a Twitter Friend Adder.

This is a piece of software you install onto your computer. It will cost you about $50 for a one-time fee, with no monthly payments like twollow above.

With a Twitter friend adder you can:-

* Add people based on what keywords they mention
* Add people based on their location
* Follow all followers of another user
* Follow everyone followed by another user
* Unfollow everyone who doesn’t follow you back
* plus a few other options

This gives you a massive amount of freedom to follow precisely the people you want to follow, unfollow every one of them who doesn’t follow you back, and build a Twitter following to beat every one of your competitors.

Manual Labor: If you don’t fancy any of this Twitter adder software… you can always just go back to the old way. Click click click, follow follow follow. This is slow, but some people find it relaxing. Crazy people with more time than sense!
